More than a century later, its furnished rooms continue to reflect the character of gracious hotel living in the Highlands region of New Jersey — tall windows, warm wood, period details, and the quiet atmosphere of a landmark building that has lived many lives.

Arrival at Idylease begins as it has since 1903. The original double-hung entrance doors — doors that once received guests such as Thomas Edison — still open into the reception vestibule and the main lobby beyond. There, twin staircases rise beside original wood columns and arched openings that marked the location of the original hotel desk, establishing the formal order of a building designed to receive guests.
The first floor still retains that character. The main dining room remains at the center of daily life, connected to adjoining support spaces and the kitchen area, where residents have access to a commercial stove, assigned refrigerator space, and designated pantry storage. Common areas extend outward through the sitting rooms, sun parlor, and broad front porch.

Idylease offers thirty-day rental agreements with an option to auto-renew. Monthly rentals begin at $1,000 per month, depending on room size and configuration. One month’s security and the first month’s rent are required prior to occupancy. Assigned off-street parking is available.
The rooms have been carefully restored to reflect the period character of the building, with furnishings, upholstery and details that recall the tradition of gracious hotel living. All rooms have half baths; showers are shared.
Shared dining and living areas are also part of daily life at Idylease, along with sitting rooms, the porch, and sun parlor. Laundry facilities are available on site in the basement, with coin-operated machines available for resident use.
